Massage therapy has been found to be very beneficial for children. Promoting relaxation and engaging the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) nervous system, gentle massage can help a child experience better sleep, reduce anxiety and improve attention at home and at school. A massage treatment before or after sports activities can also prepare a child for the next big game or relax and soothe tired, achy muscles from the previous one.
